Founded in 1981 Speed Sails have been making championship winning sails for over 25 years. With victories in classes ranging from 505s and Flying 15s to winning 5 consecutive Optimist nationals Speed Sails have repeatedly given boats the winning edge.
Based in the West Midlands, Speed Sails consists of 2 units, one for sail and cover manufacture and the other for boat repair, fitting out and rigging. There is also a chandlery for all your clothing, spares and accessories. With an experienced staff consisting of keen sailors everyone is ready to help with any questions you may have.

From designs developed through 25 years of experience the sails are cut by a plotter to guarantee accuracy and consistency. From here they are sewn and finished off by experienced sail makers in the loft. Continued interaction with sailors in the various fleets and extensive testing using Speed Sails boats means that the sails are constantly developed for improved performance helping to keep our sails at the front of the fleet.
On top of this Speed Sails are ready to repair any damage your sails may receive.

No matter how big the damage we are on hand to sort out any problems and, if necessary, can provide fast and accurate quotes for your insurance claims.
All of our covers are produced alongside the sails from accurate designs specially calculated to allow for cloth shrinkage over time. Nothing else is trusted to protect the company boats. Top covers are available in PVC and breathable polyester cotton with a choice of boom up or flat designs. Under covers are made from nylon due to its lightweight nature and stretchiness allowing easy fitting.
Speed Sails have been building World & National Championship winning boats for over a decade. Concentrating primarily on the GP14, Enterprise and Albacore we improved both the performance and durability of the boats. Today the boats give exceptional performance and are consistently seen at the forefront of international fleets.
In 2005 Speed Racing Dinghies launched a brand new epoxy foam sandwich Solo. With the input of leading Solo sailors and combining the expertise of Speed Sails, Milanes foils and Rondar Boats, the new boat proved an instant success winning over 20 open meetings in its debut year.
Aside from these dinghies we can fit out other classes including the Merlin Rocket, Fireball, Lark, Scorpion, 420, Flying 15 and many more, all to championship winning specifications. With hulls supplied by reknowned boat builders and a choice of top quality fittings your new boat will be ready to win.
As well as building and fitting out the boats we are also ready for when things do go wrong and something needs repairing. Fully approved by all the major insurance companies we handle all repairs for epoxy and FRP hulls. Direct communication with the insurance companies saves you time and hassle and allows you to get back on the water as soon as possible.
Within the boat works we also have a comprehensive rigging service where new rigs are made to championship winning settings. Custom variations are also available, as are all your other wire and ropework needs.
Built into the units, the chandlery can supply all the accessories and clothing you and your boat need. With products ranging from books (for those extra go fast tips) to spare shackles and pins everything you need is available to keep you sailing.
